Church bodies and congregations vote constantly — electing elders and deacons, calling a pastor, adopting a budget, deciding motions and overtures from the floor. Yet the mechanics are often slow and uncertain: counting raised hands across a crowded sanctuary, passing and tallying paper ballots, wondering whether a close vote was counted right.
We built MeshVote so a whole church body can vote in moments, from the phones already in the room, with a record that can be trusted. It is part of how the Magnalia Foundation serves the Church: putting technology to work so that officers and members can give their attention to the decision itself, not the counting of it.

Every vote is signed on the member’s own device, so it is tamper-proof and verifiable as it travels across the mesh. One vote is counted per device, results are sealed the moment a question closes, and votes cast after the close are rejected. There is no internet, no server, and no account in the loop — the assembly’s own phones are the network — and the sealed tally exports to a spreadsheet or PDF for the record.
Does MeshVote need internet or Wi-Fi?
No. Phones form a direct Bluetooth mesh and pass votes from device to device, so a vote works in a fellowship hall, gym, or sanctuary with no connection at all. When internet is available, an optional encrypted relay helps latecomers catch up — but it is never required.
Do members need to create accounts?
No. Members simply scan a QR code to join a meeting. No email, no password, no personal information — just their own phone.
Is a MeshVote count actually secure and verifiable?
Yes. Every vote is signed with a unique cryptographic key on the member’s device, so votes cannot be forged or altered as they travel — the record is tamper-proof and verifiable. One vote is counted per device, and once the moderator closes a question the tally is sealed; late votes are rejected.
How large a church body can it handle?
MeshVote is designed for church bodies of thousands. Because every phone relays votes to its neighbors, coverage actually grows stronger as more members join.
Can we keep the result for our minutes?
Yes. A sealed, signed tally can be exported to a spreadsheet or PDF for the clerk’s minutes and the permanent record — useful when a vote may later be questioned.
Who builds MeshVote, and what does it cost?
MeshVote is built by the Magnalia Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. It is free to download, create a group, and vote; larger assemblies are supported through modestly priced plans whose proceeds help fund the Foundation’s work for the Church.
